There are a lot of alcoholic beverages out there. Some of them, like hard liquors, stay safe to drink almost forever. Others have a quite limited shelf life of only a couple of years, or even less.
Hard liquors (or spirits) have an almost indefinite shelf life if you store them sealed tightly and in a cool and dry place. If you have one of these that’s “expired”, 99 out of 100 times it will be just fine.
This subcategory includes wine and all other alcoholic beverages that are related to it. The most important piece of knowledge here is that unless your wine was meant to be aged, it’s best fresh.
Liqueurs are, basically, distilled spirits with added flavorings that usually sweeten the beverage. These don’t retain quality nearly as long as hard liquors.
